What we do

The Town Board is in charge of approving all major decisions concerning the Town. The Town Board meets on the first and third Monday of each month beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Town of Westport, Bernard J. Kennedy Administration Building. The agenda is published in The Waunakee Tribune on the Thursday before scheduled meetings.

What we do

The Plan Commission is in charge of land use issues and Design Review for buildings and signs in the Town. They are also responsible for initial consultations on new buildings and signs, as well as dealing with lot line adjustments and rezones. Based on the location, the project may also have to be presented before either the Waunakee/Westport Joint Plan Commission or the Middleton/Westport Joint Zoning Committee.

Park Committee


The Park Committee handles the trails and parks in the Town. They make recommendations to the Plan Commission regarding issues such as playground equipment, adding new trails and other park related concerns. The Park Committee meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30 pm. Meeting locations for this committee vary depending on what they are looking into and they typically do not meet during the winter months. Contact the Town Administration office for detailed information on the next Park Committee meeting.

Public Works Committee


The Public Works Committee meets as needed to discuss public works projects. They make recommendations to the Plan Commission regarding the design and functionality of new buildings. This committee meets only as needed with times and locations varying depending on the project being dealt with. Contact the Town Administration Office for information regarding these meetings.

Historic Preservation Commission


The Historic Preservation Commission handles historic projects in the community. They make recommendations to the Plan Commission for historic sites such as the Ella Wheeler Wilcox homesite. This committee typically meets on the first Thursday of the month at the Kennedy Administration building beginning at 6:00 pm.

Waunakee/Westport Joint Plan Commission


The Waunakee/Westport Joint Plan Commission is in charge of Design Review, lot line adjustments and zoning for the Joint Waunakee/Westport Planning Area. This commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the Kennedy Administration Building at 6:00 pm.

Middleton/Westport Joint Zoning Committee


The Middleton/Westport Joint Zoning Committee is in charge of Design Review, lot line adjustments and zoning for the Middleton/Westport area. This committee meets at Middleton City Hall (7426 Hubbard Ave) as needed on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm.
